What is Zapier?
Zapier (rhymes with happier) empowers you to connect Setster with the other apps you use to run your business. Zapier thinks about software integrations in terms of “Triggers” and “Actions.” Activity in one app triggers a resulting action in another app, without you needing to do any work.
Connecting two apps together is called making a “Zap.” Zapier lives in the middle, monitoring your triggers and initiating actions in whatever workflow you establish. You can sign up for a free Zapier account at zapier.com, but keep depending on number of triggers as well as the apps you connect may require a paid account. Setster does not charge extra for this integration, but this option is only available to Enterprise Setster users as it utilizes the Setster API that is currently only available under that plan.
Adding the Setster “Beta” App to Your Zapier Account
- Log in to your Setster
- Go to Settings >> Payments & API >> Zapier
- Click on the Zapier button
- You will see an invitation page. Press the orange “Accept Invite & Build Zap” button
- You will need to enter your Setster owner email address and your Setster API token that is found under Settings >> Payments & API >> Setster API Token.
Using the Setster App in Zapier
To begin the process of using the Setster Zapier App, look for the “Make a Zap” button on the top of the Zapier website once logged into Zapier.
Zapier prides itself on providing a very intuitive and easy interface for new users to build integrations. Each small step is fully explained in the Zap Editor, and Zapier requires every Zap to be built slowly, step-by-step.
You are first asked to “Choose a Trigger App.” There is one aspect of the process that can be confusing to new users, so we will explain this thoroughly. As explained at the beginning of this tutorial, Zapier is organized into Triggers, Searches, and Actions.
At the moment, Setster's invite-only app includes the following actions and triggers
Action - Add personal time
Trigger - New Appointment Create
Trigger - Appointment Rescheduled
Trigger - Appointment Canceled
This means that if you search for “Setster” in the search box, its logo should appear. Once in the Zap Editor, you may choose the Setster app to be the trigger or the action. Once you’ve chosen your Trigger, you will proceed step-by-step to choose a receiving Action, which can be any one of several different apps that make sense to you.
Once you get into the Zapier “Triggers, Searches, and Actions” mindset, you’ll come up with all sorts of new ways to make the Setster app useful to your team.
